Race day pt 01

Today we covered the ceremonial start of the Iditarod in downtown Anchorage. Its was quite possibly one of the coolest things I've ever seen... definitely not an easy race by any standard, as it spans 1150 miles. I was having a hard time walking A mile in arctic weather.

Right now were in our hotel room drying our clothes & gearing up for the actual start of the race tomorrow in Willow, AK

My weather app says it will be 10 degrees colder than it is here. I think I may need a few more hats

snow & reindeer

Alaska is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places, full of both amazing scenery and people. We've met some of the nicest & most caring people here in the last couple days -- Although drastically different in weather, the vibe & lifestyle up here certainly echos that of Hawaii. Everyone's chill, laid back, and has a story to tell.

We got a nice surprise today when a reindeer (apparently they do exist) showed up outside the building we were shooting in. The little fella was awesome, I made sure to give him a big hug as he'll play a crucial role in the delivery of presents next December.

To Alaska...

We got home with just enough time to unpack our shorts, T-shirts & sunscreen and load up the fleece, down jackets, and snow boots.

And now. To Alaska...

212 degrees

I love trying new things and pushing the bounderies of my own abilities. This can be as simple and running 1 point faster on the treadmill or cutting a film in a new way I haven't tried before.

I saw this quote at the gym the other day and it really resonated with me. We can be "average" or we can push that one extra degree and be exceptional. That one extra degree you can chart new territories. Be creative, be true to who you are and totally unique in what you create.

This week, Casey and I are headed off for 3 straight weeks of shooting. I am pretty excited since we will be among some of the best people in their field. People who know how to give it that extra 10% that makes all the difference between winning and losing.
