Angela & Michael || the skipper and the blonde beauty

You may remember Angela and Michael from their engagement session that Danielle and I shot back in January in Ballard. From the first second you meet them, you already feel as if you had been good friends for many years. They are two people that emanate a unique and powerful energy when you are with them, providing endless sessions of smiles and laughs. Although their wedding day was filled with rain and a bit of wind, their hearts were shining bright with passion and emotion, nothing would hold back their happiness
We covered both photo and cinema at the wedding and Angela and Michael had both a same day edit video and a same day slide show shown. As a result, the wedding day for us was jam packed with shooting, driving, editing and NOT eating....due to the fact that I forgot all the food at home before we left for the wedding. :( However, Michael and Angela had made special requests for us to get food at the wedding and when it came time for dinner we were fed like kings :) On the photo side, we had the pleasure of having Amish Solanki come down from Vancouver B.C. and shoot with Danielle for the day. We have always loved his style and amazing personality, he's one of those friends who is always there for you, no matter what. And it was great to have him along on the wedding day as part of the photo team.
Here is the same day edit below as well as some frames that Danielle and Amish took.

Michael is the skipper (captain) of his fishing ship called the Thor, and he is out to sea for months at a time. Although they get to talk on the phone, send e-mails, or chat on the internet, Angela and Michael sometimes go months without seeing each-other. There was some time planned before their ceremony for them to do portraits together, but, that left us with the question of how to do that without letting them see one another (as they wanted to save that for the ceremony).... so we had them close their eyes, and stand on either side of a stained glass window at the church. We wanted to create a closeness, but without them being able to see eachother. We felt this was kind of a homage to Michael's trips out to sea. While they may not be able to see eachother, they can still feel close.

Here is a little behind the scenes photos that Danielle and Amish took:
#1 Angela sneaking a peak over my shoulder in the morning :)
#2 Michael's dad checking out Nathan's editing skills :)

Amazing work guys!
what a gorgeous couple... & you guys have captured them so beautifully :) also your idea about them standing on either side of a doorway so that they'd have the closeness but also not be able to see each other before the wedding was SUCH a great idea.
you really do inspire <3
